Greetings!
My name is Peggy Young and I am the Music Specialist at Pleasant Union Elementary School. This is my second year at PUE but I have also taught music for six years in the Durham School system. I am a graduate of ECU where I received degrees in Muisc Education and Music Therapy. When I was six years old and in first grade, we had to draw a picture of what we wanted to be…. I drew myself playing the piano! I told my teacher that I wanted to give free concerts for people. So, here I am today, teaching music and even giving free concerts once in a while!
I feel so fortunate to have a job doing something I have always loved. I want your child to feel the same way about music. I want them to leave my class feeling good about themselves, and looking forward to coming back. Music offers opportunities for creativity, expression, and positive social interaction. Studies show that children exposed to music classes do better academically. Not only that, it can be a lifelong source of enjoyment. Isn’t that something we all want for your children?
