Fourth Grade

This year is a big music year for students! Fourth graders will learn to play recorders, will go to the NC Symphony for a field trip, and will be learning some great songs from North Carolina, about North Carolina and by North Carolina musicians.
They have already begun doing all sorts of fun games and songs to help learn about the instruments of the orchestra. They have also learned the national anthem, and the State Song.
Mrs. Potter’s and Mrs. Brown’s classes attended the symphony on October 6. I was so proud of their wonderful behavior and how they sang with the symphony with such enthusiasm. It was s fun experience, and they even wrote letters to the symphony afterward.
Tracks 2 and 4 will go to the symphony after Christmas. Ask your child to tell you about John Henry. They have been learning a ballad about him to sing along with the symphony and all of the other 4th graders who will be there. We also read the story of John Henry and saw a power point about him.
